Chrome Extension

The Typedex Chrome Extension identifies fonts on webpages. Data is only collected when you actively click to identify a font—the extension does not passively monitor your browsing.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• Page content, text, or images
• Browsing history or tabs you visit
• Passwords, form data, or cookies
• Keystroke or mouse movement data
• Your email address (not stored locally by the extension)
• Sensitive URL parameters (stripped before transmission)

Data We Collect

• Font information: When you click on text to identify a font, we collect the font name, size, weight, and style from the page's CSS.
• Page URL: We store only the domain and path where you identified a font. Query parameters (like search terms or session tokens) and URL fragments are stripped before leaving your browser.
• Anonymous client ID: A randomly generated identifier stored locally in your browser to prevent duplicate submissions. This is not linked to your identity.

Signed-in Users

If you sign in to Typedex through the extension, your font discoveries are linked to your account so you can save fonts to lists. Your email is used for authentication only and is not stored locally by the extension. You can use the extension without signing in.

How We Use This Data

Font discovery data helps us improve our font database and understand which fonts are popular across the web. This data is aggregated and anonymized for analytics. We do not sell, rent, or share individual user data with third parties.

Website

When you use typedex.to, we may collect:

• Account information: If you create an account, we store your email address and authentication data securely.
• Usage data: Pages visited, fonts viewed, votes, and list activity.
• Analytics: Standard web analytics to understand how our site is used.

Data Retention

Font discovery data is retained indefinitely to maintain our font popularity rankings. Account data is retained until you request deletion. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

Data Storage & Security

Data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We use Supabase for our database infrastructure, which provides enterprise-grade security and compliance.

Your Rights

You can request deletion of any data associated with your account or client ID by contacting us. The Chrome Extension stores your anonymous client ID locally—you can clear this by removing and reinstalling the extension.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
